Santa Clause
No writing automaton thoughts. Not even curious to see what’s out there that’s been written by anyone else. I’ve just been mentally arid. That’s also been me.
But, here comes that feeling again.
Musically speaking, if I hear yet another hollow version of Here Comes Santa Claus, Blue Christmas or Do You Hear What I Hear on the 24/7 radio stations, I’m gonna cut someone!
Santa Clause, Santa Claus
I mentioned last year that this is the tune that I deliberately play first during this coming season, year after year after year. And it just seems to get better with each listen. Louie doesn’t want something superfluous, he just wants lost love. Even without a bow.
Santa Claus, Santa Claus
I’m in misery I’m in misery
If you wanna make me happy
Bring my baby back to me
Santa Claus, Santa Claus
When you come this year
Forget that hydromatic kiddie-car
I just want my baby here
Even Santa Gets The Blues
Though I know the name, Marty Stuart is a new artist for me. I admit I don’t know much at all about the man, but after opening this present last week I plan on getting to know more about him. Spoken from the view of the jolly old elf himself, sometimes even St. Nick gets mellow and blase.
What I wouldn’t give for one silent night!
Just me and Mama Claus by the warm firelight.
But Christmas time is coming
Just so much to do
Even Santa Gets The Blues
Well I know every single chimney like the back of my hand.
People leave me milk and cookies,
I just think that’s grand.
As the story goes I’m a dearly loved man.
But the reason for the season,
Some folks just don’t understand!
So it’s back to the workshop, and make more toys.
Can’t wait to give them to all the girls and boys.
Im hooking up my sleigh, go ahead and spread the news,
But sometimes, even Santa Clause gets the blues.
